Problem
Manual lead generation is slow, inconsistent, and hard to prioritize. Reviewing business websites one by one, guessing fit, and deciding outreach angles creates too much friction for consistent client prospecting.
Constraints
- Needed to be useful as an internal tool before being polished as a SaaS
- Had to stay lightweight and understandable instead of becoming a bloated crawler platform
- Scoring and outreach logic needed to be explainable, not just AI-flavored black box output
- Website inspection had to degrade gracefully when live HTML fetches failed or timed out
Solution
Built HuntList as a Next.js internal lead research system centered on website-based discovery. The user can paste business websites, generate hunts, inspect detected opportunity signals, review score breakdowns, rerun hunts, export CSVs, and use AI-assisted outreach angles tied to the actual website evidence.
Impact
- Turned manual website prospecting into a repeatable lead-review workflow
- Improved prioritization through signal-based scoring and clearer strengths/constraints summaries
- Created a reusable internal system for software-development client hunting with room to expand into other niches later
